Do I chant and pray or do I chant like a rooster?
1st April, 2021
His Grace Bishop Emilianos of Meloa delivered this talk to SOFIA University Students at All Saints Church in Belmore, NSW. He goes on to say ... ‘We are all here because we want to save our souls and we all love God. But usually during Great Lent one way or another the temptations are greater. We have all experienced that. So these next three things we will talk about may help us minimise the temptations in our lives. The first thing that I come across on a daily basis in confession is that we do judge others...‘. His Grace then talks about the ascetic who found a quick path to holiness, and about vigilance, which was Panagia’s secret to holiness. Finally, he talks about our motives behind our actions and how they make a huge difference on how God judges our actions. His Grace emphasises that we need to be aware of our inner self. We need to ask ourselves why am I doing this? Do I chant and pray or do I chant like a rooster showing off? His Grace gives us all plenty of food for thought during Great Lent.
