Short Biography

Bishop Aimilianos of Meloa
Bishop Emilianos of Meloa

Between 2005 and 2019, Father Evagrios served as the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint John and guided its establishment and development. In 2019, a few months after the ordination of new Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the latter appointed Father Evagrios Vicar-General (Πρωτοσύγκελλος) of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia. On Christmas day in 2019, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios ordained Father Evagrios a Bishop, giving him the new name Emilianos of Meloa. This was in honour of Father Evagrios’ Elder Aimilianos of Simonopetra, who played a pivotal role in his decision to follow monasticism and through it, seek union with Christ.

Over the past few years, both as Abbot of the Monastery and now as Bishop Emilianos of Meloa, His Grace has delivered many outstanding and spiritually enriching talks. These talks are renowned for their simplicity and remarkable ability to penetrate the heart and lead people to God. We are very fortunate to have recordings of many of His Grace’s Sunday Sermons, Feast day Sermons, Fellowship Talks and other Special Series and Events available here for everyone’s spiritual enrichment and development. The majority of the talks are in English, but there are also many talks available in Greek. An example is the talk given at the fellowship “Everyday Spiritual Life in the World”, which also exists in print form and in video form. The video is the same talk given at a later date. This talk is conveyed in simple language and is recommended as a starting point when delving into His Grace’s spiritual verbal and written work.
