The celebrations for the feast day of Saint Paisios the Athonite (12 July) commenced with His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyaneon presiding in the Hierarchical Vespers in the evening of Sunday the 11th of July at the newly erected Church of Saint Paisios within the grounds of the Monastery. The following morning, on the feast day of the 12th July, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy took place in this Church, and was followed by a morning tea at the Monastery Hall.
His Grace Bishop Elpidios mentioned in his sermon that the Church invites us to realise that we too, with the Grace of God, like Saint Paisios can become Saints. That we too can follow in the footsteps of the Saints. His Grace emphasised that we should do as the Gospel says to seek first the Kingdom of God and everything else will follow.
There was also a special mention to Mr Nicholas Kakulas and his late wife Anastasia for their contribution to the erection of this beautiful and first in Australia Church dedicated to Saint Paisios the Athonite.
